Why the Yellow Fever Vaccine Matters
Yellow fever is a viral disease transmitted by infected mosquitoes, and it’s endemic in parts of Central and South America. Many countries require proof of vaccination to prevent the spread of the disease. The certificate becomes valid 10 days after vaccination and lasts for life.
Getting the Yellow Fever Vaccine in Saudi Arabia
In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the process of getting vaccinated is streamlined through the Sehhaty App, a centralized digital health platform that connects residents with healthcare services across the country.
What is Sehhaty?
The Sehhaty App (available on the App Store and Google Play) offers a wide range of services, including:
- Booking hospital and clinic appointments
- Viewing medical records and prescriptions
- Accessing COVID-19 test results and vaccination status
- Managing dependents’ health profiles
- Requesting home healthcare services
- Locating nearby health facilities
How to Book a Yellow Fever Vaccine Appointment
Here’s a step-by-step guide:
- Download the Sehhaty App from the App Store or Google Play.
- Create an account using your Iqama (Resident ID).
- Navigate to:
Appointments→Book New Appointment→In-Person Appointment
→ Select your name → Search for Travel Clinic
→ Choose the nearest or earliest available date → Select a physician. - You’ll receive a text message confirmation. Arrive at the clinic 15 minutes early.

My Clinic Experience
I initially visited Almuhammadia North Clinic, but discovered that the Yellow Fever vaccine wasn’t covered by my Bupa Insurance there. The costs were:
- SAR 200 for the vaccine jab
- SAR 100 for the physician consultation
(That’s approximately $53 USD in total)
The staff kindly referred me to Prince Sultan Center, where the vaccine was covered by my insurance.
At Prince Sultan Center, I met Dr. Eithar Ali, a Travel Medicine Physician. She conducted a thorough interview about my vaccination history and travel plans. She explained the importance of the Yellow Fever vaccine and gave helpful tips on avoiding mosquito-borne diseases during travel.
Dr. Eithar was so kind and generous in giving information. I appreciated how she took the time to explain everything clearly. Best of all, I did not pay anything since the vaccine and consultation were fully covered by my insurance.
After the shot, she updated my vaccination record, and within minutes, I saw the update reflected in my Sehhaty App.

How to Download Your Yellow Fever Vaccine Certificate from Sehhaty
Once your vaccine is recorded, you can easily download your certificate:
- Open the Sehhaty App
- Go to:
My File→Vaccines - Tap Download Report
- Select Full Vaccines Report
- Save the file or take a screenshot for your travel documents

Final Tips Before You Travel

- Ask if the clinic accepts your insurance to avoid out-of-pocket costs.
