Spain, Andorra, France, Monaco, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg & Belgium
19 to 28 September 2025
Crossing borders and cultures, this journey marked a personal milestone, my 50th country visited using my Philippine passport. The Royal Route was more than a travel itinerary; it was a celebration of heritage, architecture, and the timeless charm of Europe’s most captivating cities.
Barcelona, Spain (19–21 September)
The adventure began in the vibrant heart of Catalonia. From Gaudí’s surreal Sagrada Família to the lively streets of La Rambla, Barcelona offered a perfect blend of art, history, and Mediterranean warmth. Tapas, flamenco, and sunset views from Park Güell set the tone for the days ahead.
Andorra (21 September)
Nestled in the Pyrenees, Andorra was a scenic detour into alpine charm. Though small, this principality impressed with its mountain vistas, medieval villages, and tax-free shopping. A single day here felt like stepping into a postcard.
Nice, France & Monaco City, Monaco (22 September)
The French Riviera welcomed me with azure coastlines and elegant promenades. Nice was all about seaside strolls and Provençal flavors, while Monaco dazzled with its royal glamour, the iconic Monte Carlo Casino, and cliffside views of the Mediterranean.
Zurich, Switzerland (23–25 September)
Zurich offered a serene pause in the journey. Clean streets, efficient trams, and lakeside tranquility made it a refreshing contrast. The old town’s cobbled alleys and the Swiss chocolate were unforgettable highlights.
Vaduz, Liechtenstein (25 September)
A brief but meaningful visit to one of Europe’s smallest countries. Vaduz, with its castle perched above the capital, was a quiet gem. The peaceful atmosphere and mountain backdrop made it a memorable stop.
Luxembourg City, Luxembourg (26 September)
A brief but meaningful visit to one of Europe’s smallest countries. Vaduz, with its castle perched above the capital, was a quiet gem. The peaceful atmosphere and mountain backdrop made it a memorable stop.
For travelers seeking a unique souvenir, you can stamp your passport at a small shop near the bus station—a fun and symbolic way to mark your visit to this charming principality.
Brussels, Belgium (26–28 September)
The final leg of the journey brought me to Brussels, a city of grand squares, waffles, and world-class museums. The Atomium and Grand Place were architectural marvels, while the multicultural vibe made it a fitting end to a cross-cultural adventure.
Reflections on the Royal Route
This journey wasn’t just about ticking off countries, it was about experiencing the soul of each place. From the sunlit coasts of Spain to the alpine serenity of Switzerland, every stop added a layer to the story. Completing my 50th country felt like a tribute to the power of travel to connect, inspire, and transform.
