Escape the Bustle of Bucharest
I recently embarked on an unforgettable day trip from Bucharest to the heart of Transylvania, a region steeped in history and legend. I booked a tour through GetYourGuide (Book Here) for just €20, which included transportation but not the castle entrances. I paid an additional $40 for those. Since I was only staying in Bucharest for the day, I opted to store my luggage on the bus for €20.
Peles Castle: The Pearl of the Carpathians
Our adventure began with a visit to Peles Castle, nestled in the scenic mountain resort of Sinaia. Known as the Pearl of the Carpathians, this former summer residence of the Romanian royal family is a stunning example of German Renaissance architecture. Walking through its opulent halls, I felt transported back in time, marveling at the intricate woodwork, stained glass windows, and lavish furnishings.
Lunch in Brasov
Next, we headed to the charming town of Brasov for some free time and lunch. Brasov’s main square is a delightful place to explore, with its well-preserved historical center. I wandered through the cobblestone streets, taking in sights like the Gothic Black Church, the old City Hall, and the narrowest street in Europe. The town’s medieval charm and vibrant atmosphere made it a perfect spot for a leisurely lunch.
Bran Castle: Dracula’s Lair
Our final stop was the legendary Bran Castle, often referred to as Dracula’s Castle. As I walked through its grandiose towers and winding staircases, I couldn’t help but imagine the tales of Vlad the Impaler that have inspired countless stories. The castle’s eerie yet captivating ambiance made it a highlight of the trip.

A Surprise in Bucharest
After returning to Bucharest, I stumbled upon a Filipino restaurant, much to my surprise. I couldn’t resist joining in a karaoke session, which was a fun and unexpected way to end the day. Later, I booked a Bolt taxi for €5 to the bus station, where I caught a bus to Chisinau, Moldova, for €20.
