After traveling from Edmonton, my next destination is Mexico City. When I booked my flight two months ago, I found a cheap option with a 23-hour and 15-minute layover in Puerto Vallarta. Here’s how I plan to make the most of my time in this vibrant city.

Evening Arrival and Check-In (18:10 – 20:00)

18:10 – 19:00: After arriving at Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR), I clear customs and immigration. I then take an Uber to my accommodation, Hostel Vallarta.

19:00 – 20:00: I check in at Hostel Vallarta, freshen up, and get ready for an evening out.

Evening Exploration (20:00 – 23:00)

20:00 – 21:30: I head to the famous Malecón Boardwalk. This vibrant promenade is perfect for a leisurely stroll, enjoying street performances, and admiring the ocean views. I make sure to check out the iconic sculptures and the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe

21:30 – 23:00: I enjoy dinner at La Dolce Vita, a popular Italian restaurant on the Malecón. Their pasta and pizza are delicious, and the lively atmosphere is a great way to start my layover

Nightlife (23:00 – 01:00)

23:00 – 01:00: I experience Puerto Vallarta’s nightlife at Mandala Nightclub or Zoo Bar. These spots are known for their energetic ambiance and great music, perfect for dancing the night away


Morning Activities (06:00 – 14:00)

08:00 – 10:00: I explore the Romantic Zone (Zona Romántica). This charming neighborhood is filled with colorful streets, boutique shops, and cozy cafes

10:00 – 12:00: I visit the Vallarta Botanical Gardens. Wandering through lush gardens and enjoying the diverse plant life is a perfect way to spend the morning

12:00 – 14:00: Lunch is at Mariscos Cisneros, a hidden gem for fresh seafood. Their famous fish tacos are a must-try

Afternoon Relaxation and Departure (14:00 – 17:25)

14:00 – 15:30: I return to Hostel Vallarta to relax and pack up.

15:30 – 16:30: I take an Uber back to Puerto Vallarta International Airport.

16:30 – 17:25: I check in for my flight to Mexico City (MEX).
